When the previously very isolated villages of the "cinqueterre" were rather haphazardly pervaded and explored by the Genova-Rome railway line in the second half of the 19th century, many new influences and people arrived - among others, painters belonging to the group of the "Macchiaioli", an Italian variant of the Impressionists.
To one of them is most likely owed the existence of the little house which architecturally stands out in the village - a summer residence of the Gründerzeit, with a Tuscan flavor, set directly on the (pedestrian) main street, framed by greenery left and right, with round arch windows.
The apartment situated on the main level of the house has two entrances, and it contains one living room, a bedroom with double bed, kitchen and bathroom (shower), see floor plan. It is completed by an exposed balcony (built around the corner) in front of the bedroom.
The sofa in the living room can be converted to sleep an additional two people, preferably two (not too large) children.
The roof terrace is accessible via a short circuit, up the stairs, which are built of stone and are no longer complete. On the terrace level, olive- and lemon trees, and shade beneath a large fig tree.
Sometimes, guests use the green area in front of the entrance as a breakfast balcony.
The house is situated on the "main street" of the cinqueterre; however, private automobiles are not allowed there, but pedestrians pass through - it is a peopled street.
Distance to the train station of Manarola is three minutes by foot, through the pedestrian tunnel.
No pets admitted.
